Creativity & Wellbeing Week 2023

Creativity and Wellbeing Week (15-21 May 2023) is a national festival celebrating the power of creativity and culture to improve our health and wellbeing. It is a partnership between London Arts and Health and the Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance. Now in its 13th year, the week is an opportunity for thousands of creatives and arts and cultural organisations to showcase the amazing, wide-ranging work they are doing to support health and wellbeing around the UK and beyond.

Matt Walsh, co-chair of the Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance and experienced NHS leader said: “Creativity and culture are not nice-to-haves but an essential component of a healthy society. They help us to build hope, deepen relationships and create community. We have never needed this more than we do now.”

Here, at Cambridge Community Arts, our vision is of healthier communities empowered by their own creativity and our mission is to support personal growth and improved health through quality arts activities.

Over the last 9 years we supported over 2000 creative journeys across many artforms. Our cohort of learners last year told us that…

  • 75% had improved confidence and social connections

  • 50% had improved mental health & sense of wellbeing

  • 81% said that the course gave them something meaningful to do

  • 95% said that taking a CCA course had a positive long-term impact on their creativity.

This animation below created for us by Anglia Ruskin University student, Annabelle Angeline, and perfectly represents the power of community arts to connect and empower.
